Reinhard von Lohengramm
Originally born as Reinhard von Musel into a poor aristocratic family. When his older sister Annerose, was sold off to the Kaiser to serve as his concubine when he was just 10 years old by his deadbeat father, Reinhard made a pact with his best friend, Siegfried Kircheis, that he would one day claim the throne of the Empire to free his sister and to abolish the corrupt rule of the Goldenbaum Dynasty. He seeks the Imperial throne in hopes that uniting the entire known world will prevent any form of oppression that can harm people in the years to come. As he climbs up in the ranks of the Imperial military, he would eventually start to gain notoriety as a excellent commander and would be granted the title of the "count of Lohengramm" by the Kaiser after all of his achievements. He would often engage in many space battles that pitted him against his rival, Yang Wen-li, but he never looked upon him as his enemy and admired him with great respect.
Siegfried Kircheis
Reinhard's childhood friend who made a pact with him to rise up in the military in order to save his sister. He and Reinhard both rise up in the ranks of the military, gaining much notoriety until they both receive titles of Admiralty. Kercheis often serves as Reinhard's right-hand man, often calming him down and providing assistance when the former is unable to.
Yang Wen-li
A commodore in the Free Planet's Alliance Second Fleet. Yang joined the military at a young age in order to help pay for his tuition as a university student to study becoming a historian. Despite being a pacifist, he reluctantly had to join the war due to his enlistment as a soldier. He was renowned a hero around ten years prior to the series when he helped to evacuate millions of people from the planet of El Facil, after the government had abandoned the people with the threat of an Imperial invasion. Yang has become rather renowned and rose up in the military ranks due to his intelligence in military tactics, despite not being enthusiastic about it. He is currently the only person who can match up to the cunning tactics of Reinhard in battle and despite being on opposite sides, Yang greatly admires his rival for his intelligence and noble goal of reforming his nation.
Julian Minci
The "adoptive" son of Yang Wen-li. Julian acts as Yang's housekeeper and caretaker due to his lazy attitude and nature. Julian's interactions with Yang has made him his protege and he also strives to join the military when he is old enough to serve and protect the people, all to the dismay of Yang , who wants him to lead a peaceful civilian life.
